ROBOTIC HVOF
Robotic HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) is a technique that’s used to apply a strong, dense coating that can enhance or salvage any component’s lifespan. Cadorath’s technicians use a variety of fuel and oxygen mixtures to produce a high-pressure flame, which greatly accelerates the gas’s velocity. Coating powders are forced into the combustion chamber with extra-high pressure to apply to material surfaces, which can include metals, alloys, ceramics and plastics.
ADVANTAGES OF ROBOTIC HVOF
- Variations in thickness (HVOF coatings are dense and strong).
- Very high bonding strength.
- Powder particles don’t need to be molten, useful for carbide resistant coatings
- Increases wear resistance and life of every product.
- Limits the effects of erosion and corrosion.
ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT
HVOF has only been in widespread use since the 1980s but improvements and refinements to the application continues. At Cadorath, the addition of a robotic arm to the process ensures a smooth, uniform and consistent application.
FUTURE APPLICATIONS
A popular choice for many materials at Cadorath, HVOF continues to be applied to even more materials and unique applications.
