At Cadorath, thermal spraying technologies can provide thick coatings, ranging from 20 microns to several mm, depending on the feedstock and material being coated. The variations in thickness with thermal coating provides certain advantages over other methods. At Cadorath, combustion or electrical arc discharge is usually used as the energy source. This process is commonly used for metals, alloys, plastics, ceramics and composites.

ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT
Thermal spraying has been around since the early 1880s, when high-tension gases were first created for manufacturing. In the early days, no importance was attributed to the unintentional side-products of the process, which were porous layers.
Liquid metal, which was originally the main ingredient in thermal spraying, was eventually replaced by fine metal powder, which continues to this day.
