ROBOTIC PLASMA SPRAY

Plasma spraying is a thermal process which sprays particles softened by heat onto a substrate material. These particles are normally in the form of powder and are injected into the plasma flame to be heated to high temperatures. The particles are propelled onto the material, where they rapidly cool off to form the coating. Plasma spraying makes the components of sprayed material last longer, even if regularly exposed to high temperatures or combustible gases.

ADVANTAGES OF ROBOTIC PLASMA SPRAY

  • Provides excellent protection against corrosion and the effects of high temperatures.
  • Can alter the appearance of the material being sprayed in desirable ways.
  • Excellent electrical conductivity.
  • Provides superior heat resistance.

ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT

In the 1950s, the application of plasma spraying technologies gained a strong foothold in multiple industries worldwide. The most common gas used to create the plasma is argon, also referred to as the primary gas.

FUTURE APPLICATIONS

Cadorath continues to experiment with dual wire arc coatings as a ubiquitous solution for myriad and numerous applications.
