WIRE SPRAY
At Cadorath, the wire spray process begins with the melting of metal wire that breaks down into fine droplets. A specialized thermal coating “gun” heats the source metal to a molten condition, and then sprays it onto the substrate materials. The technique is frequently used in marine applications, for coating chemical and petroleum tanks, and on large steel structures of all types.
ADVANTAGES OF WIRE SPRAY
- Can achieve high thicknesses and coating rates.
- Very strong adhesion.
- Provides uniform coatings and thick densities.
- Often the process of choice for high-volume coating of metal alloys.
ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT
One of the many, modern applications of metal spraying which originated in the early 20th century in Zurich, Switzerland. It was there that metal spray and application equipment was first developed.
FUTURE APPLICATIONS
Cadorath continues to experiment with wire spray coatings for unique, and unconventional, applications.
