Alseal
Alseal is a special-use, chrome-free coating that’s used for protecting ferrous metal (with iron) alloys from high temperature oxidation, at the same time providing sacrificial protection to the base metal. Because of its capabilities, Alseal is often used to coat and protect those metals and materials exposed to high temperatures and corrosive salt environments. Alseal is a two-part coating made up of a base coat and a top coat, each with its own cure cycle and protection properties.
ADVANTAGES OF ALSEAL
- Combines thermal stability with excellent adhesion and hardness.
- Offers superb thermal shock resistance.
- Offers greater protection for metals exposed to heat, weathering, corrosion, and oxidation than organic paints.
- Lighter in weight and more flexible than most ceramic coatings.
ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT
Alseal was originally developed by the Coatings For Industry (CFI) company in the US—specifically for use in the aviation industry.
FUTURE APPLICATIONS
At Cadorath, Alseal is only offered for aviation applications but future opportunities abound in the oil and gas industry.
