Ultrasonic Cleaning
A process that uses ultrasound technology (usually ranging from 20 to 40 kHz) to agitate a fluid for a cleaning effect. The vibrations generated are transmitted through the cleaning solution, eventually destroying and separating unwanted deposits from the surface of the object.
ADVANTAGES OF ULTRASONIC CLEANING
- Rapid deployment and application time.
- Very versatile and used to clean multiple types of objects.
ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT
Ultrasonic cleaning has been used industrially for decades, particularly to clean small, intricate parts and to accelerate surface treatment processes. It appears that ultrasonic cleaners developed as a natural evolution of several earlier inventions that used vibrations to agitate and mix substances.
FUTURE APPLICATIONS
As modern society moves towards the widespread use of nanotechnology, smaller is better. These extremely tiny parts will become harder, and eventually impossible, to clean by hand. The best alternative for solving the issue may well see an increase in the use of ultrasound technology.
