SURFACE GRINDING
At Cadorath, surface grinding employs the use of horizontal axis grinding machines—coupled with a straight-type cutting wheel. With this method, the workpiece is fixed on a table and the wheel is rotated at high speed to perform the required grinding. Surface grinding is a common method that’s used in a wide range of industrial applications.
ADVANTAGES OF SURFACE GRINDING
- Produces a very smooth finish on substrates.
- Not limited to certain shapes, with a myriad number of geometric shapes available.
ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT
Surface grinding techniques have essentially evolved into three types; the two described above, as well as disc and double-disc grinders.
FUTURE APPLICATIONS
Both the materials used for grinding and the lubricants used to cool the grinding equipment and workpieces are constantly evolving.
