ZINC & MANGANESE PHOSPHATE COATING

Of the many phosphate coatings available, zinc and manganese phosphate coatings are the hardest, while providing unparalleled corrosion and abrasion protection. Offering continued wear resistance even after the breaking in of components, the coatings are typically applied by immersion but can also be sprayed.

ZINC & MANGANESE PHOSPHATE COATING

  • Used in the production of bearings, bushings, fasteners, and other common industrial products.
  • Particularly useful for machines that require sliding of parts, such as automotive engines and transmission systems.
  • Commonly used for parts in the oil and gas and aerospace industries as a protective layer prior to the application of coatings.

ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT

Discovered by Swedish chemist Johan Gahn, manganese was originally created by superheating a combination of other elements and only until much later thought to be useful as an industrial coating.

FUTURE APPLICATIONS

More experimentation continues on the versatile benefits of zinc and manganese phosphate coatings.
